Summary: This study aims to understand the experiences and effects of girls' participation in futsal, identifying the proximal processes established that contribute to positive development. The theoretical and methodological framework is based on the assumptions of Urie Bronfenbrenner's Bioecological Model of Human Development. Data production involves four different techniques: ecological insertion in the microsystem; surveys with families; focus groups with girls and families; and semi-structured interviews with the coach. First, we mapped the barriers and supports for girls' positive development, and the results indicated a predominance of supports in the microsystem (court), but in other environments, barriers predominated. Next, we described the daily processes of the program and the transformations of the girls. For this purpose, the results with 12 months of participation indicated interaction with people in the microsystem, but with 18 months, it is possible to observe the maximization of the girls' relationship with people in the mesosystem. Finally, the last aim of this study is to describe the effects that suggest the transposition of life skills, and the findings reveal the intrapersonal dimension as the most significant perceived effect. From a gender perspective, the organization of this research shows that sports, even if they do not move macro-systemic structures, can be proficient in motivating micro-systemic changes.
